Family things

I will eventually get back to some serious blogging, but this coming Saturday is when Sacramento Presbytery votes on amendment b and I am doing some serious reading. In the mean time here is a picture I drew of my daughter Penny when she was a teenager. She sent it to me today.

I know, its only the back side of her but its fun. The kitty beside her was named--Kitty-he became the father of many kittens including two Himalayans.

Here is Penny hiking with her three boys on the Appalachian trail yesterday.

What's ammendment B?

Its the big issue all of the Presbyteries are voting on. It will remove this, "Those who are called to office in the church are to lead a life in obedience to Scripture and in conformity to the historic confessional standards of the church. Among those standards is the requirement to live either in fidelity within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman (W-4.9001), or chastity in singleness. Persons refusing to repent of self acknowledged practice which the confessions call sin shall not be ordained and/or installed as deacons, elders, or ministers of the Word and Sacrament."

If, what is actually 08-B, passes this will be substituted for the above:

"Those who are called to ordained service in the church, by their assent to the constitutional questions for ordination and installation (w-4.4003), pledge themselves to live lives obedient to Jesus Christ the Head of the Church, striving to follow where he leads through the witness of the Scriptures, and to understand the Scriptures through the instruction of the Confessions. In so doing, they declare their fidelity to the standards of the Church. Each governing body charged with examination for ordination and/or installation (G-14.o240 and G-14.o450) establishes the candidate's efforts to adhere to these standards."

You will note that although “live lives obedient to Jesus Christ the Head of the Church sounds good it separates Jesus Christ from His word. Etc. etc. etc.

Suzanne,
Thanks for remembering.

Viola:

One reason why progressives want to seperate Jesus Chrisr from his word is they believe in a "historical"(I call it a hysterical) Jesus. This jesus may have existed but he is not to be found in the Gospels.
