"Nice Jewish girls," the "Rothschilds" & the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

Since the Israel/Palestine Mission Network of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) let go of their Facebook page I have been hopeful that they would steer clear of linking to extraordinarily anti-Semitic sites. It is not to be. At least it is not to be as long as they maintain their relationship with James Wall. On their Twitter wall they have linked to Wall’s article, “Which Matters Most, AIPAC’s Power, or Rachel Corrie’s Death?” This is a sad effort to link the Jewish organization, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, (AIPAC), with the accidental death of a young activist by an Israeli bulldozer driver. The story leads on to encouragement of divestment activity by both the United Methodist General Conference and the PC (U.S.A.)’s General Assembly.

Wall’s thoughts about AIPAC are summarized with this, “AIPAC is the power center lobby engine that drives American foreign policy. It reaches, rewards, and where needed, threatens, members of the US power elite.”

But the really scary part of Wall's article is his casual comment that the video of Rachel Corrie he is using was sent to him by Debbie Menon. And he, as I have done, has linked to her site, My Catbird Seat. Menon not only is the Administrator and Editor of My Catbird Seat, she is also Middle East Issues Editor at Veterans Today’s very vile anti-Semitic site whose Chairman of the Board is Gordon Duff. Wall calls both people his friends and both sites carry his articles. And both Menon and Duff believe that Israel was behind the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center. But they believe so much more.

On Menon’s site on the side is a list of popular articles. One is an article by Duff entitled “Is America’s racketeering ‘elite’ a terrorist organization.” Duff, using a horrid Nazi like picture of an octopus with many Jewish organizations named on the legs enveloping the Capital,  is writing about all of the Jewish organizations in the United States.[1] He writes:
Everyone has heard the story at one time or another. President Wilson was duped into setting up the Federal Reserve system. The term “Federal Reserve” is a lie. The Rothschild family and their predecessors that have controlled European currencies forever, since the 1600s and before, took over operation of America in 1913, printing our money and running the country through a series of banks that they control, and not all that “secretly.”

”Federal Reserve” means “Rothschild.” “Rothschild” means poverty, hunger, ignorance and, most of all, war. This is all you really need to know. Everything else, the Pentagon, Wall Street, the corporate news, congress, the Supreme Court, the arms industry bandits are nothing but their henchmen, cowards and thieves that sold their souls for cash, the perception of power and vice.
Even uglier is a highlighted part he places in his article:
Walk the corridors of power in America and you will see vice, drugs, sex and corruption. We all know the “nice Jewish girls” that are passed around Washington like party favors, Monica Lewinsky, Chandra Levy are only two names America knows. There are a hundred more. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out who recruited them and why. Sex is power in Washington, London, Rome and Tel Aviv. If they aren’t snared in Washington, fly them to Tel Aviv. They got John McCain in Hanoi, or so reliable sources tell us, giving North Vietnam virtual control over American trade policies with Vietnam and guaranteeing the slow death of hundreds of abandoned prisoners of war.
It goes on and gets worse so let me ask some questions:

1. If James Wall links to these sites and is a friend of Menon and Duff, even using their material, doesn’t that make him an anti-Semite?

2. If the Israel/Palestine Mission Network of the PC (U.S.A) keeps upholding and linking to Wall’s articles even commenting favorably as IPMN’s communications chairman, Noushin Framke, did in the comment section, doesn’t that make the IPMN anti-Semitic?

3. It the PC (U.S.A.) keeps exonerating and upholding the IPMN without public rebuke doesn’t that make the PC (U.S.A) anti-Semitic?

The answer 'yes' brings the PC(U.S.A.) under the judgment of God. If the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) cannot say to the Israel/Palestine Mission Network stay away from all anti-Semitic sites in your posting and praise or disengage yourself from the PCUSA, they stand under God’s judgment because of the vile slander they are allowing their own organizations to connect to. None of us are innocent but if we go on allowing these connections and do not speak up we also need to repent.

[1]The picture of Nazi slander was taken with permission from the archive of Nazi propaganda at the Calvin College site. It is not unlike the one displayed on Duff's article.

Would you post pornography to show why you don't like it?

No?

Then why do you post Anti-Semitic Nazi propaganda?

It's offensive and repulsive.

Viola Larson said...

It is offensive! That is why something needs to be done about the IPMN. Thank you for making my point.

And yes it does bother me a great deal to post that. It is shameful that anyone should have to. And shameful that it is connected to the PCUSA.

Next time please leave your name and state.

The whole business makes me shudder - anti-Semitism must have a supernatural source because it defies logic how it keeps reappearing, and how otherwise educated people completely miss it or ignore it.

Karl Barth wrote that part of the problem was that the Jewish people have always owed their existence to the grace of God and we don't want to think that we must exist by God's grace. After asking a lot of questions such as "Is it true that the people of Israel, later called the Jews, are the chosen people of God?," Barth writes:

"They could and can disappear just as little as God's faithfulness can come to an end, just as little as we can cancel out what happened to one Jew while He was on the earth. This continued existence of the Jews which is so puzzling is a sign which cannot be ignored, a sign of what the one true God has done for us all, once and for all, in the one Jewish person. That is the first, the fundamental Christian answer which can be given."

I read the excellent article by James Wall three times. My answer to your thee questions is NO. I have read Wall's articles from time to time and found them to be informative and accurate. Debbie Menon of My Catbird Seat sends Wall a Youtube of an  interview with Rachel Corrie,  conducted in Rafah, Gaza by the Middle East Broadcasting Company, two days before her death. You then go from Menon to Gordon Duff's disgusting comments, reprinting a vile cartoon, to proof positive of James Wall's anti-Semitism. Shades of Joseph McCarthy.

Three other comments: Rachel Corrie's death was not an accident. AIPAC and some members of Congress are beating the drums for war with Iran, as if the 4,400 American dead and trillions of dollars spent in Iraq has taught us nothing.  If all the PCUSA can do is pass an overture of disinvestment  in three American companies, it remains complicit in the continuing oppression and suffering of the Palestinian people under occupation.

I just sent my annual contribution to the Israel/Palestine Mission Network. Thanks.

John in another of Walls postings he called Menon and Duff his friends and praised them. I guess I will have to look for the posting. With what they write he needs to ignore them.

John go here http://wallwritings.me/2010/11/28/choose-this-day-whom-you-will-serve/

and here is a quote from Wall

"The website Veterans Today is not a “sludge-bucket”. It is a progressive website that sees injustice and calls it for what it is, which explains why these days, I find myself more at home with my new friends at Veterans Today and My Catbird Seat than with any Presbyterian blogger who has failed to realize that the Israeli occupation is a moral evil which must be ended. Perhaps this is a new ecumenism of the faithful."

So, John, if you have found Wall's screeds to be "informative and accurate," then I suppose you agree with him that:

*The deliberate killing of civilians is a "military tactic";

*Terrorist organization Islamic Jihad is only considered "evil" because Israel claims it is'

*Zionism–the desire for a national home for the Jewish people–is a form of racial bigotry;

*Jews have no right to live in the West Bank or Gaza, but Palestinians should be able to live anywhere they want in Israel;

*Jewish money runs American elections, and AIPAC runs the American government;

*Israel has no right to govern itself as a Jewish state, despite the fact that the 1947 UN partition referred to it as the Jewish portion of Palestine;

*Palestinians who left Israel during the 1948 Arab invasion of Israel, and their descendants, should have the right to return to Israel, but Jews who were expelled by Arab nations before, during, or after that same war have no right to anything;

*Hamas is not a terrorist organization

*Veterans Today and My Catbird Seat are not home to some of the vilest anti-Semitic writers on the Internet, but a "progressive" site "that sees injustice and calls it for what it is."

If this is what you think is "informative and accurate," then all I can say is, God help you.

I hope your readers will take the opportunity to read that most excellent and moving article by James Wall, "Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve." to which you referred. There are indeed many Presbyterians who are blind to the moral evil of the occupation and the suffering of the Palestinians. The information is out there on the Internet. Do some research on Israeli and Palestinian websites. Two sites I discover recently were Mondoweiss, a progressive American Jewish site and +972, an independent site reporting on Israel and Palestine.

Viola, yes, if I said proudly I was a friend of a notorious anti-Semite and frequently quoted from that person's materials or linked to them, that would raise some questions I think about my own feelings towards Jews. For those of us who think anti-Semitism is a grave problem, that would be a concern.

Conversely, if a person is not so concerned about anti-Semitism, or considers a political stance against Israel more important, then I guess that person can find ways to excuse these associations.

Viola, thank you for continuing to stand against the great evil of anti-semitism.

John Mc if you think Wall's comments about Veterans Today & My Catbird Seat are just fine all I can say is I have misjudged your stance on the subject of anti-Semitism. I thought you referred to Duff's comments as "disgusting?" Perhaps I am not reading correctly.

So you must be the Presbyterian blogger (though not PCUSA), Wall was writing about. I don't know the context of the quotes or even if they are from Wall. But I will admit you know something about screeds.

The facts on the ground are indisputable. The Israeli government continues to confiscate Palestinian lands, plunder their resources, destroy their livelihoods, restrict their movements between villages, and break up families. The Israelis continue to build a wall three times the height of the Berlin Wall and when finished will be the distance from London to Zurich. Bethlehem is surrounded on three sides.

Yes, God help us all in the PCUSA for our blindness and meager responses to this great catastrophe.

John Mc,
I find it interesting that you did not respond to what Wall said about VT and My Catbird Seat. And for your information this paragraph, " One US Presbyterian blogger, for example, has accused Debbie Menon, a blogger located in Dubai of linking to a ”horribly anti-Semitic site”, not mine in this case, but another blog, bringing back the old “guilt by association” line of attack" from the same Wall posting is about me.

The problem is that My Catbird Seat & VT are sister sites using the same writers and articles and Wall undoubtedly knows that. It isn’t guilt by association it is everyone huddled together.

I rarely write anything when IPMN links to a legitimate newspaper but I will speak up often about their trashy links.

There are problems on all sides and both Palestinian & Jews need to be loved and cared about. The IPMN only cares for one side. But worse they don’t care if they use anti-Semitic material to make their points.

You can try to avoid the truth, John, and you can try to change the subject all you want. But you don't want to come to grips with anything I've actually written. The subject here is not Israel's sins, which are many. It's James Wall's anti-Semitism, and that of his "friends" at Veterans Today, My Catbird Seat, and the IPMN that touts them. Until such time as you repudiate the words and actions of anti-Semites, I will assume you agree with them.

You both toss the term anti-Semitic around to describe anyone who holds a view of the actions of the Israeli government that differs from yours. The purpose is to shut down discussion. Unfortunately it is effective and you are not alone. The two of you can find it "interesting" or "assume" anything about me you want. The big question for me is whether the PCUSA is going to acquiesce to your charges of  anti-Semitism and continue to waffle as it has done in the past.

That is, quite simply, one of the most dishonest statements I have read about this matter. It amazes me how much someone will strain to avoid condemning anti-Semetism by ignoring the evidence presented and changing the subject. It seems obvious that John McNeese is not concerned with anti-Semitism.

John: Have you ever actually read any of the crap on Veterans Today? Ever investigated its links to My Catbird Seat and James Wall? Ever bothered to do anything but stick your fingers in your ears and shout, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU!"

I do not make the charge of anti-Semitism lightly. I offered you a variety of instances of Wall's, which involve a moral double standard that insists that Jewish sins are worse than any others, that terrorism is a legitimate form of political action when it is aimed at Jews, that Jews have excessive and illegitimate influence in American government and politics, and that the Jews--alone among the world's people, and in marked contrast to the Palestinians--have no right to a homeland of their own, and that the ideology that upholds that national aspiration is itself racist. Your response: "You're trying to shut down criticism."

Once again, until such time as you actually indicate that you do not believe such bigoted calumnies, and as long as you continue to try to change the subject, I'm going to assume that you are in agreement with said bigotry.

John Mc,
Throw the term anti-Semitic around.

Some one is a friend with a man who writes that the Jewish people control the world's money and all of our goverment-they blame a sex scandal and a murder of Chandra Levy on the Jews and IPMN constantly link to the friend of such a man. That is throwing the term anti-Semitic around. I am amazed.

RC is right. John Mc is not worth the effort of response (although you and David F. are very good at giving instruction to the simple). He lurks at this site waiting to do his usual rant, and then we see the sun come up as usual the next morning. (Arabic proverb: The dog barks, the caravan moves on.) Meanwhile, to the real topic, what can we do about IPMN, practically speaking? Clearly the line was crossed a little while back and now they are vile. Waiting for the organization to be washed away in the inevitable collapse of PCUSA will take time we don't have. What would do it? a letter-writing campaign by fellow Presbys?

Maybe a letter writing compaign to the GAMC or to Presbyterian World Mission directed to the Director Hunter Farrell who is really a nice person. The page to look at would be http://gamc.pcusa.org/ministries/world-mission/

Also for the GAMC I would write to Linda Valentine, Executive Director or perhaps Michael Kruse although I am not sure he is still Chairman of GAMC. The page for that is:

I disagree with most conservatives on most issues, but I concur with Mrs. Larson on this. One can defend the Palestinians, and point out that Israel is not perfect without sinking to anti semitism. Even many citizens of Israel would support doing so. The actions and links described are utterly inappropriate.

Some day Americans are going to get fed up with being called names simply for disagreeing with the policies of israel and US foreign policy regarding it. To favor one nation above all other nations and people on earth is simply wrong and the father of our country George Washington warned us that doing so would be our greatest folly and there is no better example of us ever have doing that than in our relationship to israel, homeland for the Jew and the Jew only. Don't blame Debbie Mennon or Gordon Duff for that.

They did not create the abomination known as "israel homeland for Jews only"on top of the homes of the native Palestinian people who were and still are the only real victims in this whole thing.

Zionists and their Evangelical sheep dogs did.

Evangelical sheep dogs. God's little helpers. Believe its their job to Herd all the Jews in the world into Palestine so that when Jesus comes back he wont have to chase them all down to give them their "spanking". His Evangie sheep dogs. Making his job so much easier.

Ha! And you call us anti semitic.

Ladybat,

Several things. To comment here you must use your full name and city, state or country. If not next time I will delete you. Also I do not allow insults to other people. beyond that it sounds like you have not really read what I wrote-the subject needs to be addressed. Finally, you have no idea what you are talking about. While I am not a Christian Zionist I know that that is not what they believe.
